Scour the 10K+ reviews of my book on Goodreads, and you’ll see 1-star ratings from many a pearl-clutching MAGA hat-wearing reader who simply can’t stand someone talking about politics in a book about an industry that is completely at the mercy of politics.
I know, I know, “Emily, I read this for the snark, not the politics. Do we need to go there?” and yes, but not in the way you may think.
The truth is, politicians on both sides of the aisle keep MLMs in business for a multitude of reasons (again, I explain this in my book; seriously, read it if you haven’t already), and while there tends to be a heavier conservative contingent, that’s not specifically what I’m touching on today. Because the issue isn’t politics or Religion per se, it’s the cherry-picking of ideology to inflame and mobilize women in order to collect people and sell shit.
Case in point:
Two of my former uplines, who I talked about in the abysmal Shaklee video, could not be more opposite.
