What's the Deal with Kimberly? Part 1
Lies and manipulation can be wrapped in such a pretty package.
First, a few updates in the MLM zeitgeist. AVON1 declared bankruptcy, and Herbal Alchemy (formerly MIG)2 is leaving the MLM model. I’m sure we will continue to see more updates like these as time goes on!
Today I’m writing all about Kimberly.
Let me start this AGAIN by reminding you that Kimberly (the antagonist from my book) is not a real person but rather an amalgamation of many people in my upline and upper-pyramid bossbabe types in general. Mkay? Mkay.3 Anyone in my upline who I use as an example, or any other tippity-top pyramider, I refer to as Kimberly, as in “a Kimberly,” like “a Karen.” No offense to actual people named Kimberly (or Karen) out there, truly.
Also, if you haven’t read my previous articles about R+F, you’ll want to catch up before you read on. I know, I’m giving you HOMEWORK! Rude.
This will be (at least) a four-part series because this is a really big topic to unpack.
Why do we love Kimberlys?
Their lives look perfect, and their claims are unbelievable, yet we believe them. We follow them. They are dynamic. If you love them, you really love them; if you hate them, you love to hate them, so whether you are praising or shaking your head, you follow them no matter what—until they recruit you or block you.
They can make claims like this and get thousands of comments from people full of hope to make their own dreams come true.
