I would highly encourage you to watch “American Gospel”
It is a documentary on the Prosperity Gospel. This is what you’re writing and posting about, it is a prideful and demonic doctrine. There are no prophets today, there are no voices. It’s their own voices in their minds telling them what the flesh wants. I have heard so many women get 90% of the gospel right, thinking they are true Christians, followers of Christ, only to have them share in the next breath some heretical statement that just makes me sigh. 😔 You nailed it with the golden cuffs, it IS about the money, the power and their glory. I am sure you have stood in line to get your picture taken with “Kimberly” to put on your “Vision board”. 🤦♀️🤯
It’s a game of cards and satan is the leader. I could post many scriptures but start with that documentary and you will begin to see how the manipulation trickles down to their “teams”.
I couldn't finish your post and it has NOTHING TO DO with you or your writing. It just is a big trigger for me.
You are completely spot on with your thoughts on this. I decided I couldn't stomach being in the evangelical church on November 8, 2016 (or whenever Trump got elected.) Around that time, though, I happened to join RF, and under a crazy crazy evangelical upline. The level of mental gymnastics they played you entwine "faith" and MLM (AND the level of shame they bestowed upon you if you weren't bringing in enough $$) was/is unreal.
Are they Christians? I don't think so, but at the same time, they would not call super liberal, LGBTQ+ ally me a Christian.
My brand of Christianity is to just try to be like liberal, radical Jesus.
Oh believe me, it's been exposure therapy going through all my old messages/posts/texts! I'm almost numb to it now...almost. It's hard to see, for sure <3
As a Christian, these posts make me sick to my stomach to read. No, we don't "hear God speak," and it should be an immediate red flag if someone tells you that.
This is for other Christians--you can ignore this part. God speaks through his word, i.e. the Bible. The Bible is the only word he has given us. That's it. It contains what you need to know. There is nothing in the Bible about joining MLMs (though there is a lot about humility, holding your tongue, justice, wealth, the love of money and what it does, etc) and God did not speak to you and tell you to join an MLM or to reach out to 5 people this morning. Please stop saying things like this.
Boy oh boy. This is tough stuff, especially if you have friends who continue to simultaneously jump into this crap and call themselves Christians. As someone mentioned above, this is 1000% part of the name-it-and-claim-it, prosperity gospel. Which is an oxymoron because that’s not what the Gospel is about. I PRAY that these ladies actually READ the Bible they claim to follow and instead of claiming the Lord has spoken to them (He has indeed, most certainly NOT) realize that the voice they heard is their own selfish heart. A convicted Christian understands how deceitful the heart is and should be appalled by this behavior, repenting daily…or more often than that.
Oh boy, do I have a story for you. I have an IG friend who I really admire and like, but she's wrapped up in one these MLM faith businesses you speak of, and it breaks my heart every time she tries to get me involved. I'm a SAHM and my family is on one income, so I'm basically a sitting duck for these (I'm going to call them PREDATORS!) who claim to have the "opportunity of a lifetime" for me...if only I start buying their products and selling them to my family and friends. She shares enviable reels of getting to spend time with her children AND bring in a flow of cash that enables her to live a lifestyle I can only dream about. A few months ago, she asked me why I was hesitant to join. I didn't tell her the truth. I mean, of course I'd love to live that life. We ALL do, c'mon now! But I'm not going to sell myself to the devil to do so. That, and I don't have two pennies to rub together or shell out as required. I'm a Christian and I believe targeting the innocent in a grift scheme is a sin and just straight up cruel. I don't know who Kimberly is but, hey, everybody gets their due.
Thank you...it's tough because they're so convincing and certainly know how to warm you up. But I'm glad I listened to my gut. It never felt right from the beginning. Grateful I didn't invest or lose money. Major kudos to you for calling them out and educating others so they don't fall for this malarkey!
I'm a believer - Christian. I don't like the "God put it on heart Christianese" stuff. I agree with the previous commenters on this post. American Gospel is very good! I've never been part of an MLM. I've been indignant to it for years (especially as a solo entrepreneur, who has run my own legit small business for 25 years). This is good video in response (and agreement) to your post. The "Spiritual. MLM Dirty Little Secret" part begins at 1 h 23 min. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXcqHwi4OaA
Hi! Ok, so I’m not Christian, however I was very close to some in my BossBabe days, one who often claimed “God put it on my heart,” when she wanted to do something… let’s just say, unconventional.
So my understanding based on my years working closely with some passionately evangelical Christian’s is that, when you get a strong urge to do something, or feel inspired, or it seems random that an idea or a person comes to your mind—these are the moments a certain brand of evangelical Christian will say is a “God moment,” or “God wink,” or instructions from their Heavenly Father.
I am atheist so it's not my place to comment on what folks believe. I can tell you that the manipulation is some of the most disturbing I have seen. GOD called so obey and buy my face cream?! Gross. No.

The Green family? Just when I thought this couldn't get any worse....
I’ve watched it!!!

This sounds so incredibly typical, honestly!!! Kudos to you on holding her off :)

Hi Jolene!!! Yeah the judgemental part and the cherry picking are just… not Christ like imo!!
💯 we are to speak the truth in Love 🥰 not follow “our hearts” that are desperately wicked. It’s so hard to watch it all when you know the truth.

A "god shot" is something I heard a lot in AA too and it gives me the ick.

it's beyond disturbing!
